We did something a little different to kick off the new year with our Viking shield build. This was a lot of fun and utilized a lot of different woodworking skills. It’s something I’ve been wanting to build for a while and had a lot of fun doing it. This shield was not built to historical standards, but rather after the traditional entertainment versions we are used to seeing.

It’s that season!! We need fresh flowers and herbs and a place to keep and grow them. In this week’s video we’ll show oyu how we took some cedar fence pickets and transformed them into a multi-level planter.

A project that has been a long time coming: a set of bedside tables. Our 1926 cottage has small rooms with limited space, so I really needed these bedside tables to not only fit the space, butt serve multiple functions. Each one features a built in light that can be controlled by a concealed touch pad in the cubby. Krisztina’s side also features a hidden phone charger. I definitely ran into a fair amount of snags with this project, but they are up and functioning and we’re happy with them….for now. This project spawned plenty of ideas for version 2.0 so we’ll see what happens. Makers gonna make!

In this video, we make a two piece chess board, with storage for the playing pieces. The board itself is made from cut offs and scraps we picked up from various places. I hope this video is an inspiration to those looking for a way to use up some of the scraps that we all hold on to.

We got on that Jack-O-Lantern train by making our own customizable version with changeable faces.

We’re making some Wooden toy planes!! I was inspired for this project by Steve Ramsey over at Woodworking For Mere Mortals. He offers the plans free to download from his website. This is a great quick, and easy woodworking project and these little planes make great gifts.

We made the Mancala game board!! Tons of fun, a great woodworking project and now we have another game to play with the family!!

We built some giant wind chimes from old fence poles!! a super fun DIY project that adds a lot of enjoyment to your outdoor areas.

We decided to build and customize our own set of cornhole boards! This was an easy woodworking project and gave us a fun outdoor game to enjoy with family and friends.
